Description: An important plant used extensively throughout Mexico and the Carribean, Jamaica (pronounced ha-myka in Spanish), is a medicinal flower and beverage of the hibiscus family. It is believed to have been introduced to the Western Hemisphere in the 1700s by African slaves brought to Jamaica—hence the name.
